Just heard about the 50 cent surcharge on 101WINS and is okay with it.

Taxi isn’t the only way of getting around (although it is a cheap alternative for a group of 4) so it won’t hurt the general public but the taxi drivers will feel the pinch in the end especially with winter coming and oil prices jumped over US$82 last week.

If buses are slow or not coming at all it’s not a problem as I drive.

I don’t take taxis so I don’t care. Frankly, if people can afford to take taxis, they can afford the extra $0.50.

Taxis are a luxury and they use gasoline/emit harmful gases just like other cars. I think it’s totally appropriate to up their fares, but I also think the MTA needs to get its own act together.

I feel bad for the taxi drivers. This will often come out of their tip.
